User Fairshare

UI servers

To provide fair access for all users to resources on UI servers we have set quotas per user for memory size and a number of cores. Affected servers are: ui1, ui2 and ui3.
The higher value is taken from following values:

  • 8 GB of RAM or ten percent of the total RAM up to max 64 GB
  • 2 cores or ten percent of the total number of cores up to max 6 cores

Please do not use UI servers for extensive computing tasks and for big (TBs +) data transfers. Also use with caution your VS Code servers and similar stuff.

Be aware that in case of very high load on UI servers, that significantly limits other users, we may terminate user processes immediately.

NFS servers

Be aware that a large number of small requests to the NFS server during the job’s run overloads the NFS server and results in a slow response. We recommend to use /scratch at a local disk of an assigned worker node as your working directory or to limit the number of concurrent running jobs.

IMPORTANT NOTICE:
Inappropriate use of computing resources may lead to overload and slow response of the Golias farm and also may significantly limit other users. This applies especially to usage of NFS servers and UI servers.
If the situation repeated several times even though such a user was repeatedly notified via e-mail, then his user account may be deactivated.
